Our own TV series, What do you think?

Recently, Oliver and myself were asked to interview and discuss the possibilty of our own tv series with a Toronto production company. I love the idea, I think if done well would provide an inside look at the day to day operations of a junk removal and disposal company, as well show our customers and viewers what you don’t get to see. Oliver is more reluctant, mainly he thinks productivity and service will lose to the filming crew.
I thought we should put it out to our customers, what do you think, should we pursue our own series?

I had seen an episode on a reality TV show where it followed a crew from 1-800-Got-Junk for a day and the tv correspondent also participated in the work.

It was definitely interesting to get a glimpse of the day to day operations. After seeing the tv personality get exhausted from trying to do some of the lifting work of the crew, you can tell that it is not easy work.

I think Oliver makes some valid points, especially if this is going to be filmed for more than a few episodes.

In the long run, your company would probably get more branding exposure and free advertisting? Depending on the size of the crew involved in the filming, it may require some extra time and coordination on your end. From what I have seen, I think people generally work harder when they know they are being watched, so productivity during the filming might even increase.

As for customer service, I don’t think you’ll have to worry about losing that as I think your whole team has plenty of that! :)

A possible concern might be getting so much exposure that your phone might start ringing off the hook and you’ll have to start turning away customers due to the huge volume of requests.

As for my 2 cents, if your company and staff are comfortable going on camera and handling the extra exposure and being celebrities, then I say go for it.
